Yipes! Stripes!

Hi, there—Elizabeth here!

Oh my gosh, I’m so excited right now! I just now finished my turtleneck pullover from the Noro Unlimited book by Jane Ellison, and it looks totally fabulous. Two solid-color yarns—I used purple Cascade 220 and fuchsia Debbie Bliss Cashmerino—highlight one of Noro’s oh-so-amazing self-striping yarns. The pattern called for SilkGarden, but I used Aurora, a different yarn of Noro’s with a big of glitter, instead. After knitting this, I would vouch for Aurora in a heartbeat :].

I love the stripes on the main body and how well the fuchsia complements the Aurora, but I would have to say that my favorite part of the sweater is the sleeves. The three-row stripe pattern in reverse stockinette is just so fun to look at, and for some odd reason is reminiscent of a techno song. Strange it may seem, but I just get the urge to dance around wildly while looking at my arms.

It’s funny; you’d think this sweater would be a bore to make, considering the fact that it’s completely stockinette. But believe me; it’s just the opposite. Watching the colors come out randomly is exciting, and you find yourself wanting to knit more, wondering what stripe is coming up next.
