I got an email from the wonderful people at Malabrigo telling me that my Arroyo order is being shipped and should arrive any day now. Arroyo is a gorgeous, super soft, merino yarn hand-dyed in Malabrigo’s fabulous colors. It’s a sport weight yarn put up in 100-gram hanks of 335 yards. Okay, so that’s a lot of yarn jargon but here’s what it means: You can knit this gorgeous sweater with just a few skeins.

I love this design – Spring Showers, by Joji Locatelli – same designer as Michele’s “Big Blue”. Spring Showers is super-flattering for several reasons. First, it’s worked sideways, so the colors run up and down giving you a strong vertical element. Second, there are beautiful gores at the hip which make a gentle flair – it’s what Michele calls “ass magic” and it’s the greatest thing to happen to your rear end since Spanx. The size range runs from a 30″ to a 56″ bust, which a lovely range, and the sleeves are knit from the top down, so you can make them any length you like. Wonderful!
Special thanks to Sonja Burrows, who knit the lovely version in the picture above. She has some lots of other great photos as well as some very helpful notes for this project on her Ravelry page, so be sure to check them out here.
I just happen to be in between sweater projects, so I’ll probably be starting my own Spring Showers Cardigan as soon as the yarn arrives. Want to knit it along with me? Come by the shop, and we’ll hook you up.
